Hello. This is a place for those of us who live in the Sheffield Park area (including Eastway Park, Winterfield, and Briarcreek-Woodland) to have an open forum to discuss goings-on in our neighborhoods.
Let me start by saying that I love my neighborhood. I'm thrilled with my neighbors and I love the natural diversity that the neighborhood has. When I come home from the road, I feel so happy to pull into my driveway and look up and down my street and smile. It is home.
One thing: I attended several of the neighborhood association meetings. YIKES. The atmosphere is oppressive. I have not yet seen one motion or a vote on anything...or a financial report for that matter. And frankly, in every meeting I attended, there were no people of color. One of the attendees did make a racial slur at my husband who is of Spanish descent.
I'm not going all negative on this blog. Again, I love my neighborhood and my neighbors and want to make it a place where people help each other when help is needed, no matter what you look like.
I think we need a better sign! The Sheffield Park entrance sign is just plain sad.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the people of the Sheffield community would be better served if we detached ourselves from the now existing neighborhood association, which does not service us well in my estimation. For instance the sign at Sheffield entrance has been ignored forgotten and reflects the attention that the association gives to the Sheffield part of the neighborhood association. We can be better served by having our own association by having fair elections, and making the by laws available for everyone to read and own a copy of. Also by having transparency of the finances, and being able to bring a motion from the floor, instead of having the board and president think and decide for you what the agenda should be about, and decide what is important to notify you about. a
DeleteApparently Roberts Rules and regulations do not exist for this neighborhood dictatorship. Yes join me in this a neighborhood revolution and lets start up our own association, where terms can be held for one year only by the president, and the diversity of cultures and races which make up this neighborhood can be represented faily and equally.
